farmland the whole year and feeds the giant trees and peaceful gardens. You will enjoy the
homely atmosphere, the overwhelming view from the big terrace or natural gardens of Mount
Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru. Add to this the true hospitality of your hosts, the excellent
cuisine and it it not surprising when your eyes close after a delicious dinner in front of
the crackling fire-place. HB

10. Day Serengeti - Figtree -
Ngorongoro
Giant dust clouds show you the way through the endless plains of the Serengeti. To your
left the eldest and deeply eroded Gol Mountains and in front the raise of the vulcanoes
Embakai, Olmoti, Loolmalassin, Ngorongoro, Oldeani, Lemagrut and Sadiman, which form a
huge crater highland.Excursion to the Figtree (if you like): Drive on dusty, nearly
never used trails to the north - an excursion into a lost wilderness. You will find a
figtree in untouched Massailand, north of Oldupai and close to the Gol Mountans. Even if
you are not so interested in trees, this tree might tell you about the last 1000 years. We
found this tree about 24 years ago and used to talk for hours with it. We are proud to
show our lonely friend and you will not forget this "cathedral of a tree"!
Ngorongoro (Special) Campsite; FB
Important:The track to the Figtree is extremely dusty and impassable if it is
raining.

|
11. Day Ngorongoro Crater
Today you will experience the great variety and density of animals in the second largest
Caldera on earth. The most beautiful game drives you may experience in the late afternoon:
Most of the people have left the crater-floor, the light gets soft and the activity of the
wild animals increases. Please have a sufficient quantity of film-rolls with you! You will
take more pictures of this fantastic african landscape, flora and fauna than you have ever
expected. Ngorongoro (Special) Campsite, FB
|
|
|
12. Day Olmoti Crater
This excursion guides through marvelous umbrella-acacia forests and the savannahs of the
craterplateau to the Olmoti Crater. The 3000m high peak of the vulcano dominates the
scenery and its forested lavaslopes flow into Ngorongoro Crater. A Ranger will take you
300 m up through the afroalpine forest to the rim and you will walk to the Munge
Waterfalls. After the picnic-lunch you will enjoy another game drive in the Ngorongoro
Crater. Ngorongoro (Special) Campsite; FB
|
|
|
13. Day Embakai Crater
Very few people have experienced this extraordinary excursion, which is on the itinerary
of today. Passing the slopes of the Olmoti Crater you will be fascinated by the scenery of
Embulbul Depression, Loolmalassin- and Embakai Crater. On a really difficult track we will
"ride" you to the rim of Embakai Crater (2700m). The Caldera is edged by 600m
high, steep, jungle walls and its floor is covered with a green glimmering lake - the
seasonal home of millions of flamingos - with some luck, you may see them. This excursion
offers you the possibility to meet Massai in their untouched environment, not invaded by
tourists. An armed ranger will accompany you which will give you the chance to descend to
the craterfloor (tough path!). Karatu Campsite; FBImportant: Unforeseeable
events like heavy rain leave the track to Embakai impassable. In these cases you will
enjoy a day of rest or (if you like) another game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater.
